Daniel E. Myrtle

Daniel Earl Myrtle, 68, husband of Phyllis (Bryant) Myrtle, of Raphine, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Augusta Health. He was born November 6, 1952 in Lexington, a son of the late Elmer Earl and Mary Belle (Lawhorn) Myrtle. 

Prior to retirement, he was employed by the National Park Service as a facility Manager for the Blue Ridge Parkway with 40 years of service.Danny was a faithful member of Pines Chapel Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, Sunday School teacher, and many other roles. He enjoyed his cattle farming and loved his tractors over the years.

In addition to his wife, whom he married November 23, 1972, family members include a son, Philip Myrtle; a daughter, Jackie Kegley; four grandchildren, Emily and Michael Kegley and Kevin and Lexi Myrtle; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Becky and Donnie Harris of Greenville, Amy and Larry Campbell of Staunton, and Donna and Dennis Leslie of Waynesboro; two sisters-in-law, Frances Rowe and Betty & Lester Roberts; an uncle, Dean Moran; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Pines Chapel Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Joseph Condro.Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Danny Barker, Jerry Phillips, Danny Doyle, Tony Fitzgerald, Tracy Butch Rohrbaugh, Ernie Conner, Alan Riddle, Danny Fitzgerald, Michael Kegley, and Kevin Myrtle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Rob Marsh, Uncle Dean Moran, Danny Landes, Frank “Doodle” Humphreys, Emily Kegley, Lexi Myrtle, and his nieces and nephews attending the service.

Friends may pay their respects from 12 until 8 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 in the Henry Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5:00 until 8:00. Friends may also call anytime at the residence.
